It's that time of year again: Valentine's Day is just around the corner. For many, that means it's crunch time to find something new and original to do for a night over-romanticized by candy companies and Hallmark cards. Do you go out? Do you stay in? Should you try something new or stick with what works?
Whether you're looking forward to spending Valentine's Day with the love of your life, planning a night with friends, or indulging in some well-deserved self-care, there are many ways to make the day special. You don't have to go out and break the bank on a fancy dinner to have a memorable night with your partner—you just need some time together, and maybe a little help from us. We've rounded up a few ideas for things to do at home this Valentine's Day:
Get creative with your gift-giving this year. Whether you're looking for something to give your partner, your best friend, or even your parents, homemade gifts are a great way to show you care–create something separately, or start a project together!
There’s no denying the appeal of a thoughtful, store-bought gift, but this Valentine’s Day, try adding a homemade one onto it. It doesn't have to be professional or polished; just something to add an extra little touch of love that will make the whole package even more memorable. (If you need some help getting started, there are tons of DIY tutorials available online!)
Set up a breakfast date. Work late? Or maybe you are just more of an early bird? There’s no rule stating that Valentine’s festivities have to be nighttime exclusive. Treat your sweetheart (or yourself) to a delectable breakfast in bed at any time of the day.
Treat yourself or a loved one to a day out at the spa–or create one at home.
Remember: Couples who mask together, last together. Light some scented candles, run a bubble bath and enjoy a DIY facial with that special someone. Choose universal, gentle products to boost confidence, achieve glow, and leave the skin feeling soft and touchable.
Try something new together (in the kitchen). It doesn't matter if you're an expert chef or a total novice. Cooking together is a great way to bond, connect, and get to know each other better.
If you're feeling really ambitious, why not try something new? Ordering from a restaurant or trying out a new recipe are both great ways to spend time with your special someone without having to plan too much ahead of time. You can just pull out your cookbook (or your preferred delivery app) and dive right in!
Movie Night. Pop up some popcorn (and a bottle of wine!) and cozy up for a curated movie night. We're talking about a night in, with the lights dimmed low, and a stack of romantic (or not-so-romantic) movies to watch. So grab your favourite blanket and enjoy a night in with your significant other.
